How can I get Mail to notify me via text when I get certain messages

There are certain mail messages I need to know about as once. Is there a way I can get Mail to notify me via Text?

I looked at Rules. There was a "Send Notification" option, but no place to send it.

The Send Notification option will merely display a message in the Notification Center i.e. on your Mac screen which clearly does not do what you want.

I see two options -

  1. Get an email to SMS account from a service and create a rule to send an email via that server to you as a text message
  2. Create a rule which runs an AppleScript, the AppleScript would then (some how) send a text message, e.g. see http://www.tenshu.net/2015/02/send-imessage-and-sms-with-applescript.html
